Peace

Jan hired me to make several heart paperweights with her husband's ashes  She wanted one for each of her daughters. I don't remember how she heard about me, but she works for OFSA, so, since then, I've run into her a couple of times at funeral conventions. Last time I saw her she gave me this picture from her daughter's wedding. Her grand daughter ran up to her and said " Grandma,  Grandpa's here!" Jan assured her that he was not. The girl insisted that he was, and finally produced the paperweight containing his ash. They had placed the paperweight under Jan's seat in the church, so he would be with her during the wedding ceremony,. She cried when she told me this story , and I was pretty choked up too. I  love this pic!! The young girl is Jan's grand daughter holding the heart paperweight.

I was at a Funeral Director's convention in London, ON. The CBC covered the event, and below is a link to their online article.

My radio interview. It explains me. (My favourite quote, from my  friend and client Cat... "when you light  a candle, it brings an energy to  the object, and so therefore symbolically, you're bringing energy to the memory of that person.")
